Traveling across the world is exciting… but sometimes your body clock doesn’t quite agree. When I arrived in Singapore, my schedule was a little mixed up thanks to jet lag. While most people were fast asleep, I was wide awake and ready to explore!

A 4AM Adventure in the City

At around 4:00 in the morning, Mom and Dad decided the best solution was to take me on a quiet walk around the city. Singapore is famous for being clean, safe, and beautiful—and it turns out it’s also really peaceful before sunrise.

The streets were calm, the air was warm, and the city lights were still glowing. It felt like we had the whole city to ourselves.

The Famous 7-Eleven Sandwich

During our early morning walk, we stopped by a 7-Eleven convenience store. Singapore’s convenience stores are surprisingly good, and everyone says you have to try their sandwiches.

So I tried an egg and cheese sandwich.

And guess what?

It was amazing. 🥪

Everyone says the sandwiches at 7-Eleven in Singapore are good, and they’re right. Even at 4AM, it was warm, soft, and delicious. It might have been the best jet-lag snack ever.

Meeting the Merlion

Later that day, I visited one of Singapore’s most famous landmarks: the Merlion.

The Merlion is a statue that is half lion and half fish. The lion represents Singapore’s name (“Singapura” means Lion City), and the fish represents Singapore’s history as a fishing village.

Of course, we had to take a picture together!

Standing there with the Merlion and the beautiful Marina Bay skyline behind it made me feel like I was really in Singapore.

Views from Marina Bay Sands

Next, we went up to Marina Bay Sands to see the view from the hotel.

The views from up there are incredible. You can see the entire city skyline, the harbor, the gardens, and all the boats in the bay. Singapore looks futuristic from above, with tall buildings, water everywhere, and green parks mixed into the city.

Even for a jet-lagged traveler, it was pretty impressive.

Garden Rhapsody… That I Slept Through

One of the most famous things to see in Singapore is the Garden Rhapsody light show at Gardens by the Bay. The giant Supertrees light up with music and colors, and everyone gathers to watch.

Unfortunately…

I fell asleep. 😴

After traveling halfway across the world and waking up at 4AM, I just couldn’t make it through the show. Mom and Dad said it was beautiful though, so maybe next time I’ll stay awake long enough to see it.

Jet Lag Is Temporary, Adventures Are Forever

Even though jet lag made the first day a little unusual, it turned into a pretty fun adventure. Not everyone gets to explore Singapore at 4AM, try a famous 7-Eleven sandwich, meet the Merlion, see the views from Marina Bay Sands, and (almost) watch the Gardens by the Bay show all in the same trip.

Next time I visit Singapore, maybe my sleep schedule will cooperate a little better.

But if not, at least I know where to get a great sandwich at 4 in the morning.
